Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts raise people and their tools to height on a stable platform. They are work at height equipment rather than materials handling equipment, so they belong on a maintenance, fit-out or installation job rather than in a picking aisle.

The main choice is the surface you are working on. Self-propelled electric models are designed for firm, level floors and are the usual choice indoors, in warehouses, factories and retail fit-outs. Crawler models run on tracks, spread their weight and cope with rough or soft ground, which makes them the option for outdoor and construction work. Match the platform height to the highest task, and check access dimensions before committing.

Both lithium and lead acid battery options are listed. KJ supplies, hires, services and stocks parts in-house, and hire is often the sensible route for equipment that is only needed for part of a project.

Check the practical constraints before you order, not just the working height. Measure the doorways, lifts and aisles the machine has to pass through, confirm the floor or ground will take the wheel loads, and think about where it is parked and charged between shifts. Operators also need to be trained and familiar with the specific machine, so factor that in alongside the equipment itself.
